Yesterday, Matlala said former Police minister Bheki Cele arranged a meeting between him and KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in Durban in April this year. Matlala says they discussed persuading a complainant to drop charges against Mkhwanazi.

“He said I must convince the guy tell the guy listen he must drop the charges against him and also add that the people who actually compelled him to lay charges against him is Police Minister Bheki Cele and General Sibiya, however I couldn’t get the guy and convince him to do what he wanted to do an i thought that is one of the reasons also that I got arrested because i could not deliver what I promised him,” he said.
