South Africa’s (SA) World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Mini-flyweight champion, Siyakholwa Kuse, is gearing up for a historic fight in Manila, Philippines.
The Eastern Cape boxer will challenge Melvin Jerusalem for the WBC Straw-weight world title during the tournament marking the 50th anniversary of the iconic “Thrilla in Manila.
Kuse, the first and only boxer from the Eastern Cape to hold a WBC title, expressed his excitement ahead of the bout. “Preparation has been good for me. I’ve been training hard in the gym, doing everything I was told. I am ready for Melvin and Mr Pacquiao, the promoter. I’m happy to be part of the history of great boxers like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier,” he said.
The fight is expected to be one of the main bouts of the anniversary tournament in Quezon City, bringing together fans to celebrate a landmark moment in boxing history.
