Majodina sought to reassure residents after 833 people, including children, contracted gastrointestinal illness after consuming contaminated water last week.
Investigations established that the City of Tshwane had failed to chlorinate water at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works.
The manager responsible for the treatment facility has since been suspended.
Majodina said sufficient chlorine was now available to disinfect water at the plant for the next six to seven weeks.
“The issue of chlorine was the main thing raised around the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works,” Majodina said.
“We have enough chlorine now, which will take us through the next six to seven weeks.”
Majodina said Rand Water and Tshwane had also provided assurances that further supplies would be procured before existing stocks reached critically low levels.
“When we are left with fewer cylinders, we have received an assurance from Rand Water, working with Tshwane, that they will ensure they procure more as quickly as possible,” Majodina said.
The contamination incident raised concerns about municipal oversight, procurement and management at the treatment facility.
