South Africa’s (SA) Deputy President Paul Mashatile says that in the democratic dispensation, workers continue to face challenges of unemployment, inequality and the erosion of job security, with many calling for greater economic opportunities.
Mashatile was speaking during the Workers’ Day commemoration at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo Province.
He says the struggle has now shifted from the battle against apartheid to addressing poverty, corruption and exploitation in all its forms.
He also noted that the global economy is facing uncertainty, including slow growth, geopolitical tensions and rising inflation, while developing countries like SA continue to grapple with structural challenges, including inequality and high unemployment.
