South Africa (SA) national team coach Hugo Broos has outlined key preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, stressing the need for proper planning, discipline and stronger institutional support.
Speaking after naming his squad for friendlies against Panama in Durban and Cape Town, Broos highlighted the importance of backing from SA Football Association.
The Belgian coach revealed that the team will base themselves in Pachuca, Mexico, arriving by May 31 to allow time to adapt to high-altitude conditions ahead of the tournament. He warned that failing to properly acclimatise could negatively affect performance.
Broos also pointed to discipline and player attitude as key factors behind the team’s early exit at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. He cautioned that a lack of professionalism, both on and off the field, will not be tolerated as the team builds towards the World Cup.
