SA High Court in Pretoria has dismissed an application by co-accused linked to Malawian self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri

South Africa’s (SA) High Court in Pretoria has dismissed an application by co-accused linked to Malawian self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri seeking the removal of two prosecutors handling the case.

The court ruled that granting the application could cause further delays in the long-running trial proceedings.

The matter had been scheduled to begin on Monday but was postponed to allow the court to consider the latest application brought by the accused.

The application aimed to overturn a High Court ruling issued last month that rejected the defence’s earlier attempt to have the prosecutors recused from the case.

Willah Mudolo, a Zambian national, is among the key co-accused in the R102 million ($5.5 million) fraud, theft and money laundering case linked to Bushiri.
