The fraud and forgery trial against South Africa’s (SA) Eastern Cape Department of Health DeputDirector of Communications, Sizwe Kupelo has been postponed to November 20,  at the East London Commercial Crimes Court.

This to allow the  state to collect statements from a witness who is in the employ of the department. In the statement the witness is expected to tell the court about the money the department has lost since the alleged illegal employment of Sizwe Kupelo in the department.

Kupelo is accused of forging his matric certificate when he was applying for his position as a media liaison officer in the office of the premier, and as deputy director in the provincial health department office in April and November 2002 respectively. When applying for a postponement, state prosecutor Siphamandla Ngxokolo told the court that the computer generated information relating to the evidence set to be presented by the witness has already been sought from the office of the premier, but yet to be collected from a department of health officer. The court has guaranteed the accused that this is the final postponement until November 20 and 21.
