The South African (SA) court has reserved judgment in the bail application of the 52-year-old deputy principal accused of human trafficking and forcing young girls into prostitution.
A ruling is set to be handed down on Monday.
Today, the East London Magistrate’s Court heard the closing arguments from both the defence and the state.
The court also heard that the accused, Vuyokazi Gana, can increase her bail amount from $289 to $1.153 should she be granted bail.
The state opposed bail and argued that Gana is not a suitable bail candidate due to the seriousness of the charges against her.
The state further held that she may interfere with witnesses and that her release on bail, would spark public outrage.
