Mmamoloko Kubayi has reaffirms government’s support for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), plays a crucial role in advancing accountability and justice for victims of apartheid-era atrocities.
Kubayi has requested a postponement of the submission deadline to ensure the Commission has all necessary information. The Minister’s Spokesperson, Terrence Manase says the minister is engaging the commission to address any administrative or procedural delays.
“That may have affected the submission of the required information. The request for the postponement of the submission deadline was made in good faith to make sure the commission has all the required information to carry out its mandate effectively.
The government has committed to transparency, accountability and supporting all independent commissions established in terms of the law. The department will continue to give the necessary support to the commission to fulfil its mandate,” he said.
