The Palestinian Embassy in South Africa (SA) has advised its people from Gaza to be vigilant when engaging organisations or any unofficial intermediaries when travelling for whatever reasons.
In a statement, the Embassy says travel arrangements for the group of over a hundred people who arrived in SA on Thursday, seeking refugee status, was arranged by an unregistered and misleading organisation.
The embassy says this organisation exploited the tragic humanitarian conditions of the people in Gaza, deceived families, collected money from them, and facilitated their travel in an irregular and irresponsible manner.
However, the Embassy has appreciated the sovereign and humane decision of the SA government, to grant 90 day entry visas to those who opted to stay in SA.
