The Hollywood Athletics Club is gearing up for a strong showing at this year’s Soweto Marathon, set for November 29 at Nasrec in South Africa (SA).
Club Manager Manfred Seidler told SABC Sport that the team is aiming for top honours across multiple categories.
Seidler confirmed that the squad will feature some of the country’s top runners, including four-time winner Irvette van Zyl, Comrades Marathon star Gerda Steyn, and Zimbabwean standout Rutendo Nyahora. Defending champion Neheng Khatala will take part in the half-marathon due to exam commitments, while Lesotho’s men’s Two Oceans champion Joseph Seutloali will also be in action.
The marathon falls on a busy month-end Saturday, and organisers have moved the start time forward from 5:30 CAT to 5:00 CAT to help participants manage the expected high temperatures.
