It is alleged that the employees issued IDs to four Zimbabwean nationals and one Mozambican.

The Hawks have arrested two Home Affairs officials in Mpumalanga province for allegedly issuing South African (SA) Identity Documents (ID) to foreign nationals.

It is alleged that the employees issued IDs to four Zimbabwean nationals and one Mozambican.

Hawks Spokesperson Magonseni Nkosi says the suspects were stationed at the Home Affairs offices in Secunda. He says more arrests are imminent.

” We strongly believe that due to our investigations, we might have some extra people who are arrested, as we have mentioned that we believed there was a runner or runners who worked for the two employees, even though we did not get any connections between the two employees, but they were using runners according to our investigation. So, we so more believe more people who have played a role in this reissuing of fraudulent identity documents or in this identity theft will be brought to book.”
