South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says the issue of the Palestinians who are stranded in SA is being addressed, with Home Affairs.
This follows an incident where 153 Palestinian passengers were not allowed to disembark from an aircraft because their passports lacked the required departure stamps.
Humanitarian aid organisation Gift of the Givers has stepped in to assist, accommodating the 130 Palestinians who arrived in SA on Thursday.
In a statement, the Embassy says travel arrangements for the group of over a hundred people who arrived in SA on Thursday, seeking refugee status, was arranged by an unregistered and misleading organisation.
The embassy says this organisation exploited the tragic humanitarian conditions of the people in Gaza, deceived families, collected money from them, and facilitated their travel in an irregular and irresponsible manner.
However, the Embassy has appreciated the sovereign and humane decision of the SA government, to grant 90 day entry visas to those who opted to stay in SA.
