The South Africa’s (SA) Department of Home Affairs has announced that it will temporarily extend its operating hours ahead of next week’s local government elections to assist citizens.
From November 2 to 4, all Home Affairs offices will be open from 8 am to 6 pm (local time) to facilitate applications for and collection of identity documents.
The department’s Spokeperson Ndileka Cola says “But also, on the day of elections which is the November 4, we are going to open from 7 o’clock in the morning until 21:00 PM in the evening. This is to ensure that people are able to access their documents that will enable them to exercise their democratic right of voting.”
