SA Minister McPherson opens SIDSSA with focus on shaping municipal infrastructure

The Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium of South Africa (SIDSSA) continues in Cape Town this Monday, bringing together African political leaders, global investors, and industry executives to drive regional partnerships and unlock new capital for municipal growth across the country.

 

The annual gathering kicked off on Sunday, with delegates focusing on blended finance models, public-private partnerships, and regulatory reforms aimed at accelerating project delivery.

 

Opening the conference, SA’s Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean McPherson, highlighted this year’s core theme, Shaping the Future of Municipal Infrastructure,highlighting that local government capacity remains the frontline of economic recovery and basic service delivery.

 

McPherson noted that stabilising energy, water, and transport networks at the municipal level is essential to attracting sustainable foreign direct investment and fostering long-term economic growth across the continent.
