South Africa’s (SA) Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba has denied allegations of being paid over $100 000 to secure the release of murder accused and alleged criminal cartel member, Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe
This is according to a statement released by the Office of the Chief Justice.
Ledwaba was implicated by Witness A at the Madlanga Commission earlier this week.
Chief Justice Maya says she raised the possibility of Ledwaba going on special leave.
However, Ledwaba, who has strenuously denied the allegations against him, made it clear that he would not take it.
The statement reads that a judge may not be forced to take leave but applies for it voluntarily.
Ledwaba has also informed the Chief Justice that he is seeking legal advice and wishes to be afforded an opportunity to give his side of the story at the commission.
