South Africa’s (SA) Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has officially released the Protected Disclosure Bill.
The Bill is aimed at strengthening the country’s legal framework for the protection of individuals who disclose information on unlawful or irregular conduct in both the public and private sectors.
This Bill comes after the Zondo Commission identified gaps in the Protected Disclosures Act, which provides protection for whistle-blowers.
Among the gaps identified are unclear procedures, weak protections, and limited support.
