SA authorities have stepped up law enforcement at the Ficksburg Port of Entry

South African (SA) authorities have stepped up law enforcement at the Ficksburg Port of Entry, which links the Free State province with Lesotho, in a bid to bolster border security during the busy holiday season.

The operation, led by the Border Management Authority’s Commissioner Michael Masiapato, is part of a broader initiative dubbed “Hi-Tivise”. It introduces multi-layered security measures designed to ensure safe, efficient, and well-coordinated border management amid high festive traffic.

Masiapato has conducted walkabouts and inspected areas identified as operationally vulnerable, engaging directly with deployed personnel and cross-border partners to assess readiness levels.

The operation will also be extended to key points including the Maseru border post bridge and Lebombo, particularly during peak holiday periods, to maintain smooth and secure cross-border movement.
