Leaders are reviewing progress on regional health commitment.
South Africa’s (SA) Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has outlined critical areas regarding health in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
He is part of a joint meeting of health ministers and other ministers responsible for HIV/AIDS from across the SADC region at the Sandton Hotel.
Leaders are reviewing progress on regional health commitments and strengthening collaboration.
Motsoaledi further says that numerous areas have been affected.
“Facing an operational crisis, we have observed how some countries have withdrawn funding from United Nations entities, frankly considered ineffective or misaligned with their national interests. Entities involved in human rights and specific health initiatives, such as sexual and reproductive health rights, have been severely affected.”
