SA Netball President Cecilia Molokwane resumes duties after suspension

Suspended Netball South Africa (SA) President, Cecilia Molokwane, is resuming her responsibilities after six months. World Netball suspended Molokwane from all netball activities on April 15 2025, pending an investigation into allegations of misuse of resources and financial mismanagement.
Molokwane believes her suspension was a smear campaign orchestrated by some people within the Council of Netball SA and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee.
She returned to Netball SA after resigning as a member of World Netball, leaving the organisation with no authority over her case.
“I’m resuming office with immediate effect. I stood back because I wanted kids to play netball, I did not want anybody to be suspended. I’m going back to my office. I’m no longer a member of World Netball; they don’t have power over me. I’m an elected president of Netball SA by the Council of Netball SA and Africa Netball. So I have just resumed office now, I’m the president of Netball SA,” said Molokwane.
