South Africa’s (SA) Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, is delivering the 2026 Budget Speech in Cape Town, outlining what he describes as signs of gradual economic stabilisation.

Tabling the budget, Godongwana announced that SA has been removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) greylist, marking a significant step in restoring investor confidence and strengthening the country’s financial oversight systems.

He said government debt has stabilised at 78.9% of gross domestic product, while the budget deficit has narrowed to 4.5%. Economic growth is projected to reach 2% by 2028.

Further details from the SA 2026 Budget will follow.
