South African (SA) professional padel player Adam van Harte says he is excited to compete against some of the world’s top players when the Premier Padel tour makes its debut in Pretoria in July.
The 25-year-old, who previously represented SA as a junior tennis player, is part of a growing number of athletes switching from tennis to padel, one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.
Van Harte, currently ranked among SA’s top padel players, will compete at the Premier Padel Pretoria P1 event at the SunBet Arena.
He says he is expecting strong support from local fans as the sport continues to grow rapidly in SA.
“What we can expect is a lot of support from spectators. The sport is becoming very popular and SA is really driving the sport. I think the support will be immense. As a player, I’m just trying to enjoy the moment, compete and do my best,” Van Harte said.
