The controversy over the burglary at South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm has once again come under scrutiny in Parliament.
Lawmakers on the Portfolio Committee on Police on Tuesday questioned the conduct of Major General Wally Rhoode, head of the Presidential Protection Unit, over him handling the 2020 theft at Ramaphos’s private game farm in Limpopo Province.
Members of Parliament pressed police and oversight officials on why no criminal case was opened after the burglary.
The Members of Parliament also questioned whether Rhoode acted outside the law by launching his own investigation into the incident.
