South Africa’s (SA) Afrika Mayibuye Movement says the Constitutional Court ruling in favour of the African National Congress (ANC) raises questions about the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) online candidate nomination system.
The statement of Mayibuye Movement comes ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
The court upheld the ANC’s appeal over the exclusion of 181 candidates across six municipalities.
The movement’s National Spokesperson, Sydney Baloyi, argues that similar submission difficulties affected numerous parties and thousands of candidates.
