South Africa’s (SA) acting Police Minister Prof Firoz Cachalia says SA Police Service (SAPS) is reviewing the disciplinary regulations to improve its effectiveness.
Cachalia was delivering his budget vote speech in Parliament.
The SA Police Service is facing serious allegations related to corruption and procurement.
Cachalia says rogue policemen men and women must be dealt with effectively.
“Members who are facing serious criminal charges should be removed from operational policing duties while due processes unfold those convicted of offences involving dishonesty corruption violence crimes including rape must face the mandatory dismissal from the organisation.”
Some of the political parties that took part in the debate criticised the conduct of some SAPS members and how they manage the resources.
