South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says housing is about more than just a roof over one’s head it is about dignity, belonging, security and giving people a real stake in society.
Addressing the Presidential Summit on Innovative Building Technologies in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, Ramaphosa highlighted SA’s growing demand for housing, driven by urbanisation and population growth.
He noted that since 1994, the democratic government has delivered more than five million housing opportunities to previously marginalised communities, a record he says is unmatched on the African continent.
The two day summit at Nasrec brings together government, industry and innovators to explore alternative building technologies aimed at accelerating the delivery of sustainable human settlements.
