South Africa’s (SA)  President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended the deadline for the Madlanga Commission’s final report to January 25, 2027.
It was expected to submit its final report by November 16, 2026.
The judicial Commission of Inquiry led by retired Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga,  was established in September last year to investigate explosive allegations of criminality, political interference and corruption in the country’s criminal justice system.
To date over a 100 witnesses have testified. Serious evidence of rot has resulted in arrests, resignations and dismissals of some government officials.
The extended period will allow the Commission to process additional evidence, including testimony from experts who have made recommendations related to its terms of reference.
