South African (SA) President and African National Congress (ANC) leader Cyril Ramaphosa has welcomed what he describes as encouraging levels of youth participation during a nationwide voter registration.
The campaign drive is ahead of the country’s local government elections.
Speaking in his capacity as ANC President, Ramaphosa visited voter registration centres in Atteridgeville, near the capital Pretoria, on the final day of the two-day exercise organised by South Africa’s Independent Electoral Commission.
The campaign gave eligible citizens an opportunity to register to vote and update their details on the national voters’ roll.
