South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has departed for Egypt to attend the 8th African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Meeting. This event brings together the heads of state and government of the AU bureau, the chairs of the regional economic communities, and other prominent figures.
The meeting enables leaders to assess progress on key continental projects.
Heads of state and government will review the role of the AU Development Agency, NEPAD, in accelerating regional and continental integration. They will also evaluate progress in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Leaders will receive an update on efforts to speed up infrastructure related to water and sanitation.
