South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has declined to comment on his decision to dismiss Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe.

Speaking during a question-and-answer session in Parliament, Ramaphosa remained tight-lipped hours after his office announced that Tolashe had been removed from the post.

Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga, has been appointed acting Minister.

Tolashe has recently faced criticism over allegations that she misled Parliament about vehicles donated by the Chinese embassy to the African National Congress Women’s League, as well as claims of irregular appointments and contract extensions within her department.
