South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in New Delhi, India, to attend the 18th Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) Summit, taking place from Saturday until Sunday.
The summit, hosted under India’s Chairship, theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Security.”
Ramaphosa will today address the BRICS Business Forum, focusing on trade, supply chains, agriculture, women-led development, the digital economy and innovation.
He will also attend the India and SA Business Leadership Roundtable, aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment, including in pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, critical minerals and electric vehicle battery production.
At the summit, Ramaphosa is expected to push for greater intra-BRICS trade and investment, African industrialisation and increased investment in infrastructure aligned with the African Continental Free Trade Area.
He will also participate in discussions on reforming global governance, including the United Nations and international financial system, and hold bilateral meetings with other leaders.
