South Africa’s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says law enforcement agencies are working around the clock to bring down high levels of crime.

He was reacting to weekend mass fatal shootings in the country. Eleven people were killed in the KwaZulu-Natal province last week.

In the Western Cape Province, ten people were shot dead and 11 others wounded in Lwandle, Cape Town in the early hours of Friday morning while 17 people were shot dead in Carletonville west of Johannesburg, Gauteng Province on Saturday night.

Ramaphosa says police have been instructed to end criminality and lawlessness with immediate effect.
