Proteas Women Coach Mandla Mashimbyi says South Africa’s (SA) historic run to their first-ever International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) World Cup final has not only built team unity but also sparked significant individual growth among players.
After a short break, Mashimbyi says the team will shift gears as they begin preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup in England.
“What’s next? We embark on the next project, T20 is our next project. We put emphasis on that, make sure we get that philosophy going, make every player understand what is expected of them,” said Mashimbyi.
He says the team is determined to cement their growing status in world cricket:
“We’re not going to take anything for granted in terms of teams that we’ll play against. We’re going to show them that we are the second-best team in the world. We’re going to bring the fire, that’s for them to deal with it.”
