South Africa (SA) says it is ready to provide security for leaders and delegates attending the 46th summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province.
The two weeks programme began on August 3, with Ministerial and other meetings leading up to the main summit on the 17th, when regional heads of state are expected to meet.
SA’s National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NatJoints), says security measures are in place to protect participants throughout the summit.
SA has been hosting lead up events to the 46th Ordinary Summit of SADC, in the coastal city of Durban, completing the interim presidency that was supposed to be led by Madagascar, but due to the challenges that they had, SA was then requested by the SADC nations to take that process.
Briefing the media on the security preparations ahead of the ministerial arrival to attend the SADC Council of Ministers Meeting, the NatJoints, says it’s ready and fully prepared to ensure the safety and security of all the member countries that will be attending the Summit.
