SA records over 260 000 new voter registrations

The commission says the registrations were captured through its voter management services.
Electoral Commission (IEC) of South Africa (SA) says a total of 260,205 new voter registrations were recorded between November 2025 and March 2026.
The commission says the registrations were captured through its voter management services and online voter registration portal.
The IEC has also announced that voter registration weekend will take place on June 20 and 21 ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo was speaking at a media briefing in Centurion, Gauteng province.
Mamabolo says, “Between November 2025 and March 2026, a total of 260 000 new registrations were recorded. Of these, 128 000 registered through our voter management services, while 132 000 registered via the online self-service portal.”
