South Africa (SA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing regional development priorities as it serves as the interim Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Deputy Minister in the Presidency responsible for Government Communication and Information System Kenny Morolong, says SA as interim chair remains focused on industrialisation, agricultural transformation and energy transition under the theme of building a resilient SADC.
Morolong was speaking at the opening of the 2026 SADC Media Awards Regional Adjudication Committee meeting in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province.
The SADC’s Regional Adjudication Committee convened in Johannesburg on Tuesday to assess entries for the 2026 SADC Media Awards.
Established in 1996 by the SADC Council of Ministers, the awards recognise excellence in journalism across the region.
The committee comprising national media coordinators and adjudication representatives from member states, meets annually to evaluate entries that have progressed through national judging processes.
Opening the meeting, Morolong, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to advancing SADC priorities and strengthening regional co-operation.
