The inquest into the death of anti-apartheid activist and leader of Black Consciousness Movement, Steve Biko, in South Africa (SA)  has been adjourned until on Thursday.

The inquest sitting in the High Court in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape province, will see its first testimony from the investigating officer.   Earlier, an application by the Biko family’s lawyer, Ngqiqo Sakhele, to postpone the proceedings was declined.

Sakhele argued that they needed time to go over thousands of pages of records that date back to the first inquest in the matter in 1977.

Many of these records needed translation from Afrikaans to English. Son of Biko, Nkosinathi Biko, says they are not happy with how proceedings are being handled.
