South Africa’s Co-operative Governance Minister, Velenkosini Hlabisa Velenkosini Hlabisa has officially proclaimed November 4 2026 as the date for Local Government Elections.

This marks the start of the 90-day countdown to the November Fourth local government elections. With the Gazette in place, citizens have until midnight to register to vote on the Electoral Commission of SA platforms online.

Executive Director at Defend Our Democracy Wade Manning says once the deadline passes, no new registrations or changes will take place.
