The geomagnetic storm is caused by burst of energy from the Sun and will affect high frequency radio communications on earth.
The Space agency says recent activity on the Sun triggered a coronal mass ejection, a cloud of particles careening towards the Earth, and “expected to impact Earth from the early hours of Wednesday 20 January,” the agency said in a statement on Monday.
“This impact will interact with the Earth’s magnetic field and cause a geomagnetic storm,” the statement continued.
The agency expects the upcoming geomagnetic storm to be moderate to strong in severity, saying that the storm will go unnoticed to most people, only causing disruptions in technologies such as navigation, communication, and electricity grids.
