Hughes was found guilty in August of premeditated murder and vaginal rape, charges that carry minimum sentences of life imprisonment.
The court heard that Hughes filled a bathtub with cold water and pressed down on the child until she stopped breathing.
Hughes claimed it was due to an emotional dispute with Nada Jane’s father over infidelity and claimed to have a Borderline Personality Disorder.
