Pan South African Language Board consider mother tongue-based bilingual education as vital in learning for understanding and education must enrich and solve societal problem.

The World Mother Tongue Language Day will be celebrated on February 21.

The board held an event to mark the International Mother Tongue Language Day in Mbombela, Mpumalanga Province.

Mother tongue language authors urged government to assist with the circulation of their books.

Sabelo Mthobeni has written four books in isiNdebele, with topics ranging from albinism, sexual identity to Ndebele culture.

One of his books has been translated into braille.
