SA welcomes new direct air connection between Johannesburg, Madrid
South Africa (SA) has welcomed a new direct air connection between Johannesburg, Gauteng Province and Madrid following the arrival of Air Europa’s inaugural flight from Spain.
The new route is expected to boost tourism, trade, cargo movement and educational exchanges between South Africa, Europe and Latin America.
Air Europa becomes the first airline to offer a direct service between Spain and SA.
The launch of Air Europa’s direct route between Madrid and Johannesburg has been hailed as a major milestone for SA’s tourism and aviation sectors.
The new service is expected to strengthen connectivity between Southern Africa, Europe and Latin America, while creating new opportunities for trade and economic growth.
Mosilo Sofonia, Head of Global Trade at SA Tourism says the route addresses a long-standing connectivity gap with one of the country’s priority tourism markets.
