South Africa’s (SA) national women soccer team, Banyana Banyana have kicked off their Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women’s Championship campaign with a two-nil victory over Malawi.
The opening match at the SA’s Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo Province, was the first clash in Group A.
The other teams in the group are Angola and Lesotho.
Banyana Banyana and the Malawi Scorchers opened the tournament. SA’s two goals came in the second half.
The first goal came from striker Sibulele Holweni, and the second was scored by Bonolo Mokoma.
SA’s next encounter will be against Angola at the Seshego Stadium, Limpopo Province, on Saturday.
