The contest brings together two of the highest-ranked teams on the continent, leaving analysts and supporters divided over who should be considered favourites.
Speaking ahead of the decider, the centre-back described the match as the type of occasion every player dreams of experiencing.
“It is another huge game against another big team, and when you reach the final of AFCON you have to play this kind of game,” Saiss said. “It is the kind of game in which the details will make the difference. We have to keep our concentration, discipline and desire to win the Africa Cup of Nations.”
Morocco is seeking to end a 50-year wait for the continental title, and Saiss hopes the current generation under Coach Walid Regragui can deliver a historic triumph.
“Winning the AFCON is the dream of all Moroccan people,” he said. “They have been waiting for this trophy for fifty years now, so we cannot wait to end the long wait and win the final on Sunday night.”
Saiss reflected on the dramatic semi-final victory over Nigeria, a match that stretched to penalties after a tense 120 minutes. Although he did not feature on the field, the defender admitted the encounter tested the nerves of the entire squad.
“It was a stressful game, but I think we stayed focused for 120 minutes and we stuck to our plan,” he said. “In the end, we deserved to win, even though it was a penalty shootout, because we were very strong and created a lot of chances.”
The final in Rabat is expected to attract a capacity crowd, with both nations carrying strong recent form and deep squads. Senegal, champions in 2021, aim to secure a second title, while Morocco looks to crown a remarkable era that has already included a historic run to the FIFA World Cup semi-finals.
Saiss believes the team that manages the occasion best will lift the trophy, adding that calm minds and collective effort will be essential when the decisive moment arrives.
