South African (SA) political analyst Sandile Swana says, the African National Congress’ (ANC) declining electoral fortunes are likely to continue.
Swana was speaking in an exclusive interview with the SA Broadcasting Corporation ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s keynote address at the ANC’s 5th National General Council (NGC) commencing today.
He predicts that the ANC is likely to face significant losses in the upcoming Local Government elections.
The four-day NGC is the party’s second highest decision-making body between national conferences and is aimed at reviewing implementation of past conference resolutions.
Swana argues that the organisation must acknowledge its setbacks and confront the consequences head-on.
