In honour of the class of 1976
In honour of the class of 1976, South Africa’s (SA) African National Congress (ANC) has implored young people to turn political freedom into economic freedom, social justice and community development.
Through a statement, the party has called on the country’s youth to register to vote this coming weekend and contribute to fixing local government to deliver basic quality services.
They have further paid tribute to all who planned and participated in the June 1976 Soweto Uprising that stood against a racist regime that imposed Afrikaans as the language of instruction.
The ANC says the baton is in the hands of today’s youth to ensure that they have a better future and that the sacrifices made by the class of 1976 is not in vain.
