South Africa (SA) women’s national football team, Banyana Banyana are continuing their preparations for the delayed Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco in July.
The SA side will take on Algeria women’s national football team at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province, on Tuesday afternoon in the first of two international friendlies. The second match will be played at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
A strong crowd is expected at Princess Magogo Stadium, where stalwart Noko Matlou will earn her 100th cap in national team colours. The 36-year-old from Sterkspruit has featured in four WAFCON tournaments and was part of the squad that won the continental title in 2022. She is eager to help bring more glory to South Africa in August.
Her teammate, Andile Dlamini, says the postponement of this year’s tournament from March to July could benefit the team, describing it as a blessing in disguise.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm Central African Time on Tuesday.
