South Africa’s (SA) African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment will not be scrapped.
This as calls to get rid of the policy continue to be amplified, with some arguing it benefits politically-connected elites.
Ramaphosa was speaking during the opening of the 27th ANC Youth League Conference at the University of Limpopo Province, outside Polokwane.
The conference was marred by delays and a disorderly registration process.
By early Monday evening, some delegates had still not arrived at the venue of the conference.
Ramaphosa had to wait for nearly three hours to address delegates.
