Ntshavheni says employment increased by 248 000 jobs in the third quarter of this year.

The South African (SA) Minister in the Presidency, Khumbuzo Ntshavheni, says the country’s economy remains on a positive trajectory with the growth in employment, among others.

Ntshavheni says employment increased by 248 000 jobs in the third quarter of this year, with a decrease of 360 000 in unemployed people as announced by the quarterly labour force survey.

Ntshavheni says Cabinet also welcomed the continuing improvement in Eskom’s financial and operational performance, with the power utility recording a profit of R24.3 billion ($1.4 billion) after tax in the first six months, which is 37% higher than in the same period last year.

She was speaking during a media briefing in Pretoria on the outcomes of last Friday’s cabinet meeting.
