South Africa’s (SA) former Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba has been charged with corruption related to a multibillion Dollar tender at the country’s state-owned freight transport and ports company, Transnet
The tender involves the procurement of more than 1 000 locomotives. Gigaba appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg alongside four co-accused on Monday morning, weeks after being questioned by authorities on the matter. Gigaba, who was named during the State Capture Commission of Inquiry, maintains that due process guided his non-executive role in the procurement process.
